I ate at a great Mexican place in Ojai one time. Didn’t get to try the margaritas, though. What are the best Mexican restaurants in Ojai?

Next time you’re in Ojai, grab a copy of ‘Ojai and Ventura View’ (Vol 1 Issue 3).
This is the true successor to the old Ojai and Ventura Valley Voice. Available on line, free, at

It is too late to participate in one of Ojai’s essential events, the 4th July parade, but not for another essential part of to-day’s Ojai, the annual band concert in the park. Every Wednesday after the 4th of July, at 7.30 pm., for six weeks, the RotaryClub of Ojai West has sponsored free concerts given by the Ojai band. Band members ,include local residents, teachers, doctors, lawyers and students from Ojai and Ventura schools. The setting sun illuminates families, their children, old folks and young folks, czsually dressed, some with their own chairs, others lying on the ground or just standing around to listen to a mixed program of popular, classical and patriotic music. On one side of the gazebo, away from the band, Rotary Club members dispense popcorn and lemonade, while others blow up balloons for the children, for the highlight event of the evening, the grand parade. Led by a well-known local personality, the xchildren.alone or with their parents and friends, some toddlers struggling to keep up, others riding on pop’s shoulders or carried in Mom’s arms, march two or three times round the park, along the paths and through the trees.

Started by a local resident, Sara Beeby, in memory of her younger brother, and subsequently taken up by the Rotary Club of Ojai West, it is a wonderful example of a piece of Americana , worthy of a Norman Rockwell portrayal, and which seems to be disappearing, but which, here in Ojai, seems to have become a n outstanding example of Essential Ojai.
